Arriving at the Yew Tree Inn in Chorley I was greeted by about eight people sat round a table chatting about their Minis. I was introduced to club chairman Dan Parr and found his enthusiasm for the club and everything Mini to be infectious.
The club came about after Dan went searching for like-minded people on the Internet, now he is the founding member and Chairman of the North West Mini Owners Club (NWMOC).
Dan said: “It began when I started surfing the Internet a lot. I came across a forum called miniclassic.com. It was good for information and gave me the chance to meet other people who shared my understanding and ambition. I got talking to a guy called Chris Wade who was from Preston, we set up an Internet mailing list and that was the beginning of the NWMOC.
“Eventually we had about 30 members on the mailing list and we decided to arrange a meet. The meet was a massive success and as the club expanded the meetings became more regular.
"
But it’s not a big club,” explained Dan, “There are about 15 die hard members who come to all the events and the majority of meets.
"
We also try to make sure the club doesn’t become too serious because the idea is to go out and enjoy our minis," he added.
