On October 4 2000 the last Mini drive off the production line at Longbridge.

Both Lulu and Twiggy the epitome of 60s cool, who had both owned and advertised Minis throughout the decades, were involved in the send off. Twiggy advertised the last of the limited edition Rover models and Lulu helped drive the last Mini off the production line.

The Mini's popularity continued and after production ceased celebrities were still seen driving Minis. Kate Moss had one after passing her driving test in 2001, Nicole and Natalie Appleton were regularly seen in Nicole’s Paul Smith LE and Paul Weller has apparently been seen driving his Mini around London.

The Minis is still alive and kicking six years after production ended. Join us next week when we speak to John Bullas, a self-confessed Mini nut and founder of Minilist, about what made the small car a British icon.
